How do I feel about the “new” Facebook?
Posted by cliffpro in Reason vs. Instinct on March 18th, 2009
I’ve been slacking in updates lately for two reasons: One, I’m dead tired at night when I get home from working, so I can’t function enough to type, and two, I’ve been out of the creative loop lately. However, as I check my Facebook more and more, I realize I have something to write about now!
Well, isn’t THAT i(ch)ronic?

Study: Marijuana Appears to Slow Cancer Growth in Laboratory Setting
Wouldn’t it be the ultimate slap-in-the-face if marijuana ends up being the closest answer to a cure for cancer?

One of my favorite video game songs has been covered PROPERLY and I must bow before this mighty player of the axe. Bravo!
Just Dance!
I was woken up by my Sirius radio at 3:58am (I left it on last night to listen to some Howard Stern), and was surprised to be hearing music… really catchy music! My half awaken ass thought to myself, “This isn’t BPM! I thought I left Stern on!!” At the end, Stern asked what the song was (making my search easier), and it’s been stuck in my head since.
Call it an embarrassing, guilty-pleasure song, but it’s effin’ catchy!

I decided to let you know about my intentions and my thoughts about you and I. Recently, you were shocked to find out that there might be the possibility I’d leave you for another domain naming service. Unfortunately, this is true.
We started off great together, you know? I saw an ad for cheap domain registration, not understanding the fact that I’d need to buy hosting to make a website, but I followed my heart and my gut. That’s when you and I met. You let me register studiocliff.com for (back then) a very affordable price. And, for the past decade, you’ve been very good to me. When I made both good hosting choices and bad, you still stuck behind me and never left my side, loyal to the end.
However, now that I have acquired a few more domains, I’m feeling things between us getting shakey. The last round of domain updates, you told me I’d get to renew for cheap. However, I had to not only pay extra just for the domains, but you wouldn’t let me mask my public information on WhoIs without extra cash.
Is that what our love has come to? Me having to pay you extra for a little extra attention?
As you know, I’ve been hosting my site with Dreamhost for a few years now, and we’ve hit things off pretty well. I won’t lie: I think I’ve fallen for them. They have more features for both their hosting and their domains with far less cost and effort than you and I have gone through. I know you tried to win be back over with your 30% domain renewals e-mail when you first heard that I might leave you. I’m sorry to say that it’s too little, too late.
I’m sorry it had to end like this, but in a few days time, all my domains will belong to Dreamhost. I believe that Dreamhost can give me the attention and love that I need from a domain and hosting provider. Something more than the two of us had shared. I’m sure you will find others, though. You’ll find some nice, young, naive person who can’t find cheaper domain registrations, and they’ll keep you warm and safe at night.
As for us, however, it’s over. I’m sorry, but there’s no other way.
Take care.
